The Celebration of the Eucharist
The Celebration of the Eucharist plays a vital role in the life of our Parish Community. As a community, some gather daily, some gather weekly, to hear the Word of God proclaimed and to be nourished by the Body and Blood of Christ our Savior. Through the Mass, we are likewise given the charge by our Lord to become Eucharist for one another.

Monthly Pro-Life Mass
Pope John Paul II wrote an encyclical entitled Evangelium Vitae in 1995, which called all Catholics to pray for the promotion of a "culture of life." The Holy Father stated,

"Today there exists a great multitude of weak and defenseless human beings, unborn children in particular, whose fundamental right to life is being trampled upon. If, at the end of the last century, the Church could not be silent about the injustices of those times, still less can she be silent today."

In response to the Holy Father's call to pray and action, Saint Paul's hosts a special Pro-Life Mass every First Saturday of the month at 7:00AM. Following Mass, there is an optional Rosary at the abortion clinic on Broad Street. All are welcome!

Eucharistic Adoration & Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament
While Eucharistic Adoration neither can nor should take the place of Mass, this special Liturgical Devotion has played a central role in the prayer life of the Church for centuries. Pope John Paul II, in his encyclical, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, encouraged the faithful to extend their worship of Jesus in the Eucharist outside of the context of Mass. He stated:
"The worship of the Eucharist outside of the Mass is of inestimable value for the life of the Church. This worship is strictly linked to the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice. The presence of Christ under the sacred species derives from the celebration of the sacrifice and is directed towards communion, both sacramental and spiritual. It is the responsibility of Pastors to encourage, also by their personal witness, the practice of Eucharistic adoration, and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in particular, as well as prayer of adoration before Christ present under the Eucharistic species.

It is pleasant to spend time with Jesus, to lie close to his breast like the Beloved Disciple (cf. Jn 13:25) and to feel the infinite love present in his heart. If in our time Christians must be distinguished above all by the 'art of prayer,' how can we not feel a renewed need to spend time in spiritual converse, in silent adoration, in heartfelt love before Christ present in the Most Holy Sacrament? How often, dear brother and sisters, have I experienced this, and drawn from it strength, consolation and support!"

The Eucharist is exposed every Monday after the 12:05PM Mass all day, with Benediction at 6:30PM. During October and May, the Rosary is recited before Benediction, and the Stations of the Cross are prayed before Benediction in Lent. All are welcome!
